Nintendo has already confirmed that it will support the switch in 2025 with new software, but what is the plan for the system after this year?
During the Q&A of Nintendo’s latest financial results briefing, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa shifted the balancing act that shifted from one generation to another – and mentioned how the Japanese company would like to release new titles on the original system, but also noticed how “crucial” Exclusive when it comes to new hardware.
Here is exactly what he had to say (thanks to the official English transcript of Nintendo):
Shuntaro Furukawa: “So far we have announced Pokémon Legends: Sat and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond as Nintendo Switch titles that are planned for release in 2025. Because many people play Nintendo Switch, we want to develop attractive software, we want to continue to release new titles On the other hand are exclusive games when launching new hardware.
As already confirmed, Switch users can look forward to Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition next month as well as Pokémon Legends: SA and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond in 2025.
Nintendo also confirmed this week that the switch has now been shifted more 150 million units Worldwide, so until Switch 2 Sales starts to bloom, it seems likely that Nintendo will continue to support the original model in the earlier years of the life of the new system – perhaps comparable to the approach it followed with 3DS software development after the switching .
Nintendo reveals more information about the Switch 2 during a ‘direct’ broadcast in April, with the hardware planned to arrive later this year.
