Obisidian confirms the Avowed 60FPS mode on Xbox Series X, after he said “you don’t need it”

Avowed contains the option to play at 60fps on Xbox Series X, developer Obsidian has now confirmed, after he had said earlier that the “core” 30fps option of the game was an advantage.

Game Director Carrie Patel has now confirmed an option for “up to” 60 FPS will exist in the game at the launch, as part of a new interview with Minnmax.

Last year, Art Director Matt Hansen said Obsidian had decided to aim for 30 fps, because Avowed was a game with one player, and therefore “you do not necessarily need those 60 fps”. Indeed, 30 FPS allowed Obsidian to “become much juicier with VFX and lighting,” he continued.

“It is a trade -off that we have chosen to make relatively early, and we are really happy with that,” Hansen added. “The game is pretty smooth, you know, how it is visually closed, and that was always our goal.”

That said, Hansen still has left the Wiggle space that other options can make the final release of the game. Performance -optimization was “one of the last things you do,” he noticed.

This week, because he was asked what the Avowed Frame Rate would be, Patel replied: “You can get a maximum of 60[fps]”. Details of the resolution of the game on that frame rate were not mentioned.

Avowed is set in the Pillars of Eternity Universe and is the newest game of Fallout: New Vegas and the Outer Worlds Studio Obsidian, and will be launched for PC and Xbox series X/S on February 18, on February 18 . As you would expect, PC and GamePass get ultimate subscribers access to the game on the first day.

“Avowed plays as a funny obsidian roller player where your buddy with the voice of the Garrus of Mass Effect,” I wrote after the hand in the hand of Avowed last year. “If you are looking for a fresh obsidian hit … is one to keep an eye on.”
