The New York Jets have put a lot of effort into strengthening the defense for the 2024 season.
New York went out and acquired Linebacker Haason Reddick after having spent the previous two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Reddick was a superstar in Philadelphia. He was a pro -bowler in each of the two seasons with the Eagles and made 27 bags over that piece.
Unfortunately, the move did not work in favor of New York. It is not the fault of the jets, but he lasted it for a while and even when he returned, it didn’t have much impact on the field that ended with one bag in 10 games.
Now Reddick goes to a free agency and he will be one of the better Linebackers on the market despite a down year. Mason Cameron from Pro Football Focus drove the Detroit Lions under the top options for Reddick.
“Potential landing places: Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions,” Cameron said. “After a seasonal injury to Aidan Hutchinson, Lions’s General Manager Brad Holmes reportedly checked whether a deal could be reached to acquire the dissatisfied Reddick. However, a trade has never been released, partly due to a clause in the original trade agreement that would new York send a pick from the second round of 2026 to Philadelphia if the Jets Reddick would send back to the NFC.
Reddick is only 30 years old and can be a dominant player, things simply did not work in New York in 2024.
