I put back the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra when I started assessing the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and since then it has usually stayed on my wrist. I did this as a way to test the now short function of Galaxy AI, but I came to the other side head-over-heel in love with Samsung’s largest, craziest smartwatch. This is what happened.
I missed the other ultra
When accepting my new love for the Galaxy Watch Ultra, I tried to understand where my crush came from and I remembered a crucial moment. When I bought my Titanium Apple Watch Series 10, I used the original Apple Watch Ultra as a trade-in to compensate the eye-water costs. I knew I would miss the Apple Watch Ultra when I exchanged it, but the brilliant Apple Watch Series 10 quickly forgot me.
Although I wore the Galaxy Watch Ultra for a period in mid -2024, I was usually taken with the beautiful Ultra Analog Watch Face and I didn’t really think that deep at the watch itself. Looking back, I wonder if the reason was that I still had the Apple Watch Ultra act if I wanted to wear a large, daring, somewhat crazy smartwatch. Nowadays it is just not the case.
There is still a contributing factor. At the end of last year I bought a new belt for my Oris Aquis GMT watch and the one I chose happened to be Orange. It transformed the watch and I love the bright orange belt. My Galaxy Watch Ultra is equipped with Samsung’s Orange Marine Band and I have seized every opportunity to show it. My affinity for the Galaxy Watch Ultra was certainly helped by the Oris. It all means that different things are coordinated to check whether this time I turn on the Galaxy Watch Ultra, it would be difficult to resist.
Such an explanation
I love watches that make an explanation. That is why I love Casio G-Shock watches, in particular brightly colored Frogman Dive watches, and was in the first place so in love with the Apple Watch Ultra. The Galaxy Watch Ultra is a statement maker. You probably already know that it is a big smartwatch, but the numbers – 47 mm wide and 12.1 mm thick – do not tell the whole story.
The last time I wore the Galaxy Watch Ultra, it was summer, but now I wear it in the winter and therefore equipped with hoodies and jackets. Every watch I wear must fit under the cuffs without being pain. What about functionality?
It is all very well taken with the design, but what about what it works? The One UI Watch 6.0 software has a logical, easy to learn format that is unique to Samsung’s smartwatches, but it is very complex and requires a lot of attention for the first few days of use, whether it ensures that you follow Your health statistics, otherwise install, otherwise install apps on your phone, or setting apps such as WhatsApp on the watch itself.
Even if you spend time setting up everything, it is not always guaranteed to work. Sleep racking worked to start, but then just stopped and I have no idea why. I still couldn’t let it work anymore. It is not a big problem, because although the Galaxy Watch Ultra can be worn at night, the size makes it quite noticeable. Reports are also unreliable, but this is a problem with Google’s Wear OS software in general, instead of something wrong with the Galaxy Watch Ultra specific.
The ultra is made for sports enthusiasts and although I do not extend his assets, I appreciate functions such as the very effective automatic training course. It connects to Samsung Health on your phone, and although the app is nicely designed, it does not feel like it is suitable for hardcore sports people, who may look at it via a Garmin smartwatch. For me as a casual (at his best) practitioner, it works well.
One to buy in 2025?
The Galaxy Watch Ultra is currently the best smartwatch in Samsung and we do not expect it to be replaced until later in 2025. Expensive smartwatch line, which means we have received a pro, classic and ultram model in recent years. However, the price of $ 650 is steep. I have fallen for the Galaxy Watch Ultra and really enjoy wearing it, but in terms of functionality and general daily portability, the excellent Galaxy Watch 7 – in both size – is much better value. But if someone would give me the Titanium White Galaxy Watch Ultra with the Orange Navy Band and said, “Here andy, wear this instead,” I would silence and it would be in an instant on my wrist.
